2010 is fast approaching!

The 2010 DCI Season is rapidly approaching us! The charts are prepped, new Corps added and we’re locked and loaded with anticipation of events to come!

Check back on the 19th for the first scores of the season!

New Phantom Regiment Uniform

The Phantom Regiment has come back to Fred J. Miller for their look in 2009. The new design is mostly solid white with light grey and silver accents.

It should be interesting how this plays out, it’s not a big departure from their normal look, but with their usual themed look, I wonder what will happen to fit The Red Violin.

Surf the World!

Congratulations to Jersey Surf… DCI has officially approved their move from Open Class to World Class competition effective for the 2009 Marching Season.

Welcome to World Class!

2008 Champions – Phantom Regiment

They came into Quarterfinals in third place, moved up to 2nd place in Semifinals and surpassed the hopes and dreams of many alumni (myself included) and have completed their second championship season!

This IS Phantom Regiments first solo championship, as they tied with Blue Devils in 1996 but none the less, these guys deserved it.

Great show! I only wish I had been there during the reading of the final three place scores.

Congratulations Phantom, enjoy it! SUTA!

I would also like to extend congratulations to the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets for their Open Class Championship Win as well as ALL the corps who competed this season. It was an excellent season and I hope everyone has excellent memories of their short time on tour this season.

Crown DM published in Halftime Magazine!

In case you missed it, Carolina Crown Drum Major Evan VanDoren has written an article for Halftime Magazine about his life in drum corps, and what it is like to lead a World Class Drum Corps.

Make the trip over to the magazine’s website to see what Evan has to say, and while you’re there, snag a subscription!

Editors Note: I unfortunately didn’t pay too much attention to the dull roar coming out of Crown’s pre-season camps… They have done phenomenally this season and here’s hoping they can pull off a medal placement. It’s nice to see fresh faces at the top from time to time. Welcome Crown!

Crown has a new website

Carolina Crown has just released a major overhaul to their corps website and I have to say it is REALLY nice!

Dubbed “CrownWEB 4.0″ the website has an improved look, links to their store and marchinghead.com and many new additions.

Head on over and take a look! – CrownWeb 4.0

New Madison Uniform?

Rumor has it that Madison Scouts will be adopting a new uniform again this year. I have seen numerous notes around describing the uniform and it almost exactly fits the description of this shot from Stanbury Uniforms.

I personally like this one very much, it reaches back to their roots as Boy Scouts, and should look really nice on the field.

UPDATE: Madison has posted a gallery of Photos following their ‘Madisonic’ show, to show off their new diggs…

Cascades to limit 2008 tour schedule

via DCI.org:

The Seattle Cascades will remain in the Northwest for the 2008 season, choosing not to embark on the broader national Drum Corps International Summer Tour as a member of the World Class. The corps has decided instead to field an exhibition unit, providing a regionally-focused drum corps experience for returning and new members rather than withdrawing from the entire season.

Staff is using this season to get back on their feet and hope to be back to full strength for 2009 World Class competition.

Good luck guys!

Well wishes to the Colts D&BC

On Monday 12/10, Bianca Vocke and Erin Reichle members of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps out of Iowa were in a serious car accident. Sadly Bianca Vocke lost her life. Erin Reichle is recovering from her injuries.

My best wishes go out to both families and the friends in their extended Drum Corps family as they mourn the loss of their loved one.

The Colts have established a fund if you would like to contribute to the families. Go here for more information.

The PR Wedge is back

Regiment has apparently redone the end of their 2007 show to include one of their trademark moves.

I think it’s a much needed improvement.
