New Phantom Regiment Uniform

The Phantom Regiment has come back to Fred J. Miller for their look in 2009. The new design is mostly solid white with light grey and silver accents.

It should be interesting how this plays out, it’s not a big departure from their normal look, but with their usual themed look, I wonder what will happen to fit The Red Violin.

Open Class Welcoming

The coming 2009 season will be bringing the DCI Open Class a familiar face, and two new family members.

Returning from two years off the field, we once again will see the Capital Regiment from Columbus, OH and while we welcome Cap Reg back on stage, City Sound of Los Angeles and Music City of Nashville, TN will be storming the barn with their fresh start in the world of drum corps.

2008 Champions – Phantom Regiment

They came into Quarterfinals in third place, moved up to 2nd place in Semifinals and surpassed the hopes and dreams of many alumni (myself included) and have completed their second championship season!

This IS Phantom Regiments first solo championship, as they tied with Blue Devils in 1996 but none the less, these guys deserved it.

Great show! I only wish I had been there during the reading of the final three place scores.

I would also like to extend congratulations to the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets for their Open Class Championship Win as well as ALL the corps who competed this season. It was an excellent season and I hope everyone has excellent memories of their short time on tour this season.

World Championships 2008 Begins

With Open Class Quarterfinals and I&E in the history books and World Class Quarterfinals under way the 2008 DCI World Championships have officially begun.

Check every morning this week to see if your favorite corps has advanced to the next round.

Semifinals for Open and World are August 8th, and Finals are August 9th.

I was poking around some web tech blogs and found this rather interesting addon and I thought it would be worth testing out.

Editors Note: I unfortunately didn’t pay too much attention to the dull roar coming out of Crown’s pre-season camps… They have done phenomenally this season and here’s hoping they can pull off a medal placement. It’s nice to see fresh faces at the top from time to time. Welcome Crown!

Fantasy Uniform Makeovers

I personally love Brent Becker’s designs and ideas for corps and bands, even if they never see a stadium light…

A friend of mine shot me a link to deviantart where Becker hosts his self titled “Salon de Refuses”.

Becker works for Stanbury Uniforms, where most of his ideas tend to get the budget fire hose (still wonderful work) but it’s nice to see he can still go wild on his own time.

Scoot on over to his gallery and see this amazing artists gift to the marching arts.

FYI that’s not an actual Regiment uniform, just a rejected idea from his gallery.
